If you are running your MSSQL database on the same machine as the EventSentry web reports (EventSentryWebReports service), then you may see an error message similar to the one shown below - after the machine has been rebooted - when you try and access the web reports. The error message indicates that a connection with the database could not be established.

Unable to obtain a connection to the specific database. Please review your setting in the Profile Editor

This happens when the initialization of the database doesn't finish until after the EventSentry Web Reports service has already started.

To resolve this issue, the EventSentryWebReports service needs to configured to be dependent on the MSSQLSERVER service. You can do so by using the following command from an elevated command prompt:

sc config EventSentryWebReports depend= TCPIP/AFD/MSSQLSERVER

After that, the EventSentry Web Reports service will not start until/unless the MSSQLSERVER database service is running.
