Since the "Server Admin" account created when you setup a database in Azure has only limited permissions, running the EventSentry Configuration Assistant to automatically create the database and users is not an option for Azure-based PaaS databases.
However, in a few easy steps you can manually create a database with the users in Azure to use with EventSentry.
This article assumes you already have a SQL SERVER instance in Azure with a server admin account.
Open "SQL Server Management Studio" and connect to your server instance. Once connected, right-click on the server name at the top of the left pane view and select "New Query" (this should show "Master" as the database). Run the following query:
CREATE DATABASE [DatabaseName]
Once the database has been successfully created, we will need to create the two logins for EventSentry (eventsentry_svc & eventsentry_web), you can do this by running the following queries:
CREATE LOGIN eventsentry_svc WITH PASSWORD ='strong_password'
CREATE LOGIN eventsentry_web WITH PASSWORD ='strong_password'
Once you've done that, right-click the EventSentry database and select "New Query." Then run the following queries to create those users in the EventSentry database:
CREATE USER eventsentry_svc FOR LOGIN [eventsentry_svc];
CREATE USER eventsentry_web FOR LOGIN [eventsentry_web];
In the links section at the bottom of the page, you'll find a query to create the tables, indexes and run all the grant statements.
Then, in the EventSentry management console, you'll want to create a database action. You can right-click 'Actions' and select 'Add Action' and then type "SQL Database' and click OK. Then click the 'Create' button and fill in the information, for the username, you'll have to use:
eventsentry_svc@severname
