If an EventSentry service is very busy when you run an update, sometimes Windows can fail to stop the service during install and the update fails. This most commonly happens with the EventSentry Collector or the EventSentry Network Service, but it can happen with other EventSentry services as well. If this happens, you can update those failed services manually.
To do so, open the EventSentry console to the service's respective page, for example the Collector page under Home > Collector. Here, click the Update button.
If the console prompts you for a folder to update from, select your installation folder. By default, this will be C:\Program Files\Eventsentry. If you have EventSentry installed in a custom location, select that folder instead. Be sure to select the installation folder itself, not any files in the folder.
Now click OK, and restart the service from this same page in the console. Now your service should be updated to the latest version!
You can then repeat these same steps for each service that failed to update in their respective pages in the console, for example under Home > Network Services.
If services failing to update is common on your server, before you run your EventSentry update you can open the EventSentry console to Home > Services and stop the Collector and Network Services. Then run the update as normal. This should prevent the service from being too busy to update and avoid needing to update the service manually afterwards.
