When trying to connect to an OpenFire XMPP (Jabber) server, I get the error "SASL authentication failed"

When connecting to an OpenFire server, the value in the "Server" field in the EventSentry action dialog needs to match the xmpp.domain field in the OpenFire configuration.

If the name in the OpenFire configuration is not resolvable, then it would need to be added to the local hosts file (SYSTEMROOT\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts) or DNS.

This setting can be found in Server - Server Manager - System Properties - "xmpp.domain".

Please note that this issue might affect other jabber servers as well, though the configuration of the xmpp domain depends on the xmpp software used.
