Backing up information

Before upgrading any piece of software it is always a good idea to backup the configuration and all associated critical data, in the event that the update does not complete.

At first we should backup the EventSentry configuration which is stored in the registry. To backup the configuration, open the management console and select File -> Export. This will export the configuration to a .reg file which can later be imported using the management console or regedit.exe.

Next, we will backup the WebReportsConfig.xml file which holds the configuration for the web reports. We will copy this file into the Backups folder created under the installation path of EventSentry.
